Novant Health Hospice & Palliative Care - Charlotte, NC is seeking an experienced and collaborative Hospice Medical Director to oversee our growing and dynamic program. The ideal candidate must demonstrate exemplary and compassionate clinical skills, and embrace a collaborative interdisciplinary team approach to end-of-life care. Candidate must demonstrate clinical, administrative and educational leadership skills.
Job Summary:
- Assures high quality, appropriate and efficient utilization of hospice services
- Advancing the mission, operations, and services of the program
- Collaboration with the Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) and will participate in the development of formulary, policies, and procedures
- Team-based care approach, with an experienced and dedicated support staff within a culture of innovation
- Oversee an average daily patient census of about 175, including an established 8 bed inpatient hospice unit located in Novant Health Presbyterian Medical Center
- Collaborates with the IDG to ensure that the medical needs of the patient are met and provides oversight of the plan of care
- Certifies patient eligibility criteria for hospice care including admission, symptom calls and certification of terminal illness
- Monday - Friday schedule with rotating on-call responsibilities
Qualifications:
- Board certified/board eligible in hospice & palliative medicine
- Experience in end of life care and/or training
- Medical director or associate medical director experience preferred
