This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more Incumbent serves as program coordinator and is administratively responsible for coordinating admissions to the in-patient respite program. The goal of respite care is to give family caregivers and other informal social support systems temporary relief from the demands of daily care. Respite care is a distinct VA program with the unique purpose of providing relief for unpaid caregivers from routine care giving tasks, thus supporting caregivers in maintaining the chronically ill veteran in the home and thereby supporting the veteran's desire to delay or prevent nursing home placement. As the Program Coordinator, Incumbent serves as point of contact/liaison for all inquiries regarding the Inpatient Respite Program. This may include stakeholders (e.g., veterans, families, community programs & hospitals, Veterans Service Organizations, Veterans Benefits Office, and Congressional inquiries). Incumbent manages the daily operations of admissions to the program, direct patient care services in the program area, works with the Supervisor and Extended Care leadership team to develop policies and procedures for program operation and prepare reports and statistics for facility, VISN, and national use as needed. Develops a system to identify eligible veterans served by the facility and community, thus ensuring access to services. Incumbent works closely with Veterans and their Caregivers who are seeking inpatient respite from the daily caregiving duties provided in their homes. The incumbent manages and controls the use of data related to the inpatient respite program regarding day to day functioning and program evaluation. Incumbent plans, organizes and directs administrative, operational, patient and personnel activities for the program. Incumbent may provide supervision for social work fellows, social work interns and clinical supervision for social work licensure or certification.
