The Palliative Care Physician specializes in serving patients by relieving the stress and symptoms that accompany a serious or chronic illness. This Palliative Care Physician will collaborate with the patient’s attending physician to develop and update the plan of care to ensure pain and symptom management. The palliative care physician also will serve as a medical resource and educator to staff as well as patients and families regarding pain and symptom control management.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate knowledge and experience in palliative medical practice and symptom management as well as knowledge of Hospice Conditions of Participation and applicable state hospice statutes and regulations within six months of hiring.
Applicants must hold an MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school and be board certified in a related specialty. Applicants must hold a current Florida license to practice medicine issued pursuant to Florida Statute 458 or 459. A minimum of two years of recent active practice with direct clinical medical care experience is required. Certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine strongly recommended as is hospital staff privileges at one or more hospitals in the corresponding service area.
