This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. The Physician will work in a team setting to provide whole person pain care in conjunction with other physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, psychologists, clinical pharmacists, physical therapists, dieticians, registered nurses, and support staff assigned to perform duties to accomplish the treatment of our patients. Care may be provided to Community Based Outpatient Clinics (CBOC) in Montevideo, Alexandria and Brainerd as appropriate. Duties include but are not limited to the following: - Coordinate pain care for referred outpatients as assigned. - Evaluate and treat acute and chronic health problems for scheduled and unscheduled patients in the clinic setting. - Perform histories and physical exams. - Provides appropriate documentation to minimally include history, physical exam findings, diagnosis, and definitive care plan. - Ensures patients are appropriately closed-out including disposition that clearly indicates the next steps of care. - Perform office procedures contained within their approved privileges. - Prescribe medications as appropriate. - Order routine laboratory, radiological and diagnostic tests and provide initial interpretation of results. - Communicate test results to patients. - Initiate and expedite requests for consultations and special tests. - Provide education to the patient and family as necessary. - Work collaboratively within interdisciplinary pain team. - Assist with administrative consult management -Complies with local and national performance standards for Pain Management -Works with leadership to ensure compliance with local and national performance standards for Pain Management programs and with applicable JCAHO, NCQA, AALAC, FDA, ORO and other accreditation standards. -Collaborates with Quality Management on quality assurance and performance improvement activities for Pain program with the Service Line Work Schedule: Generally Monday-Friday, administrative days VA offers a comprehensive total rewards package.
