The Home Based Primary Care Program (HBPC) provides primary care services to Veterans in their home. HBPC has five teams that cover the Eastern Kansas VA catchment area. The Nurse Manager provides direct supervisory authority and responsibility for the management, guidance, and coordination of all operational elements for HBPC. They are responsible for the management of nursing practice and operations within their external standards. The Nurse Manager in collaboration with the Associate Chief Nurse and is responsible for all issues that affect staffing including standards of practice, training, functional statement, position descriptions, proficiency reports, performance appraisals, policies, procedures, protocols and competencies. The individual must have the ability to be self-directed, organized, have a valid driver's license, and a good communicator. The Nurse Manager supervises teams including Leavenworth, Topeka, Atchison, Junction City and St. Joseph, MO. The incumbent will have the responsibility for organizing and overseeing the HBPC Program, ensuring the care meets high quality standards. This position demonstrates leadership in delivering and improving holistic care and utilizing collaborative strategies with patients, family members/significant others, and members of the interdisciplinary team. This Nurses Manager will have direct impact on patient outcomes and staff development. The Nurse Manager is responsible and accountable for the provision of patient care in the community, for the management and supervision of all nursing personnel and staff as assigned, for the creation of an atmosphere where caring for patients is the foremost concern, and for assurance of optimal orientation and clinical competence of nursing staff. In addition, the Nurse Manager is accountable for several administrative responsibilities, some of which are performance improvement, policy and procedure initiation and updating, and strict adherence to regulatory compliance of both internal and external governing agencies. Excellent customer service and communication skills are required. Work Schedule: Full-time, Days, Monday- Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Telework: Not available. Virtual: This is not a virtual position. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required. Paid Time Off: Receive 13 to 26 days paid annual (vacation/personal) leave per year, 13 sick days annual with no limitation on accumulation, and 11 paid federal holidays. Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years' vesting) and federal 401k with up to 5% in contributions by VA.
